24 seasonS IN PARIS

Medium / watertcolour, ink on Japanese paper

Size / H43cm x W31cm

This series of drawings is based on the 24 sekki, an ancient Japanese system of dividing the year into 24 seasons. Each season has its symbolic plants, and she imagine those plants and drew things that don't exist in reality.

She has always been fascinated by how people in the past were so attuned to the subtle changes of the seasons, feeling them deeply.

“the natural world surrounding us is, the single, most intricate and perfect, form of art” Keiko finds her inspiration mostly from nature, which has been her guide through her career as an artist. Transferring into art, the natural delicatessens of nature, with its intricate textures and colours, is what concerns her the most and what her art expresses. Her work is usually represented by delicate lines depicting flora through elegant and fragile pen drawings, brought to life by her choice of mostly traditional and strong Japanese colours and hues.
